Lovely black couture dress worn by Michelle Obama as First Lady in 2010 to the ''Christmas in Washington'' broadcast event, marking the first time a First Lady wore a vintage piece of clothing to a public event. Designed circa 1950s by Norman Norell, fashion designer to the stars who dressed luminaries such as Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, elevating American fashion to that of French fashion houses. Dress features black lace silk organza over a silk crinoline petticoat made with layers of tulle, with black satin shoulder straps and tie-back. Dress measures approximately 49.25'' long with a 35.5'' bust, 28'' waist and 35'' hips. Light staining from wear, and some tears to lace throughout, inconspicuous against the black base. Very good condition.
