Foreboding letter to Jane Deacy from Lewis Bracker at I.A. Ruman & Co. Insurance, regarding automobile and motorcycle insurance for James Dean, specifically ''Accident'' insurance. Dated 15 July 1955 approximately 2.5 months before Dean died in a car racing accident, Bracker writes in part, ''...I cannot honestly say that [Dean's insurance] is complete, but it is as complete as I can make it. I say this because the absence of any Life Insurance and an Accident Policy make this statement imperative. I have told James this but to no avail. I hope that his thinking will become more sound on the subject soon but until then I can only hope he stays well and in one piece...'' Bracker then broaches the subject of Deacy taking a policy on Dean's life, ''...I hope I am not being presumptuous; James Dean is undoubtedly a valued client of your and if you have not already done so, I would suggest that you give serious thought to insuring his life for your own protection...'' Single page letter measures 8.5'' x 11''. Light wear, overall near fine. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
