Pair of letters from Warner Bros. and James Deans LA agency, Famous Artists. Dated 10 June 1955, letter from Warners to James Dean c/o Jane Deacy informs Dean that he should sign this agreement for an appearance in ''BEHIND THE CAMERAS'' for ''WARNER BROS. PRESENTS'', citing a section of Dean's contract that requires him to promote his ''photoplays''. Second letter from Famous Artists dated three days later tells Deacy that ''technically under Dean's employment agreement Warners can require him to do this, but that the request on Warner's part is rather broad and might entail appearances not compensated for - far beyond the spirit and intent at the time the Dean-Warners employment agreement was worked out...'' Letter also notes ''Dean's appearance in the Ed Sullivan TOAST OF THE TOWN show in connection with advertising GIANT. As you know, James wants to do this and I have sent papers covering this on to him in Marfa...'' Single page letters measure 8.5'' x 11'' and 7.25'' x 10.5'' respectively. Paperclip impressions, overall near fine. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
