Retained copy of letter from Albert Heit, the lawyer representing Dean's erstwhile companion Rogers Brackett, who here is demanding payment of advances he claims to have given to Dean. Dated 28 January 1955 shortly before ''East of Eden'' premiered, letter reads in part, ''Rogers Brackett...informs me that he advanced to you various sums of money from time to time amounting to approximately $1200. Although you have acknowledged your obligation, it seems that you have neglected to repay any of these advances to Mr. Brackett...'' Letter measures 8.625'' x 9.375''. Light creasing and discoloration, overall very good condition. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
