Western Union telegram from Dick Clayton, James Dean's Los Angeles agent, to Jane Deacy, who represented Dean in New York. Intriguing telegram dated 8 December 1954 reveals that Dean was interested in playing the role of ''cowboy'' in the upcoming play ''Bus Stop''. Telegram reads, ''Jimmy would like you check following: [Elia] Kazan talked to [playwright William] Inge Re Jim for cowboy role in his new play 'Bus Stop'. Jim requests you talk to [Harold] Clurman the director as he is definitely interested on Kazan's recommendation...'' Telegram measures 8'' x 5.875''. Very good plus condition.
