Lot of ''Prince Valiant'' original artwork, comprising both the John Cullen Murphy Sunday comic strip art, and the Hal Foster preliminary sketch, both #2243 in the series, published 3 February 1980. Comic strip is rendered in ink over graphite, with some red key lines and blue editorial notes, on three sections of illustration board, conjoined on verso to measure approximately 16.5'' x 22.5''. Paste-up of logo. Light wear, overall in very good plus condition.
The Hal Foster preliminary artwork in pencil closely matches the finished strip, signed by Foster at lower right, and with the Prince Valiant label at top. Measures 8.5'' x 11''. Three hole punch, and light wear. Overall in very good condition. From the John Cullen Murphy estate.
