Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed in full, ''Franklin D. Roosevelt'', dated 10 June 1926 during the launch of the polio treatment center at Warm Springs. In fact, FDR writes to his physical therapist Helena Mahoney, who developed the treatment protocol at Warm Springs alongside Dr. Leroy Hubbard, as she was traveling to Georgia for her new employment. On Roosevelt's custom business stationery, letter reads in part, ''...Dr. Freiberg of Cincinnati, the Chairman of the Orthopedic Committee, writes asking who the various patients and doctors should write to and I am telling him to send their communications to Dr. Hubbard at Warm Springs. If any of these letters come before Dr. Hubbard arrives, will you open them, consult with Mr. Curtis and reply as to rates, etc...'' Single page letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Folds and a few spots of foxing, else near fine.
