Dwight D. Eisenhower autograph letter signed as Lt. General and Commander of the European Theater of Operations during World War II. In October of 1942 he writes to his wife, Mamie: ''Darling / Today has been the worst of all - I've dashed from here to there & back again until I'm dizzy. Now - 7:00 p.m. Sat. night I'm through for at least 1 hour - then God knows. I had an inspection trip set up for tomorrow that I'm afraid I'll have to forego - don't see how I can leave town. If a radio I'm looking for gets here by midnight I'll go - otherwise I have to cancel - which involves cancelling a sp. train. Oh hum - It is difficult to say what a fellow will be doing the next minute - but now I must run to dinner & then again to work. Loads of love - always - / [''DE'' crossed out] yours, Ike''. With original envelope postmarked October 1942. Two page letter on two sheets measures 6'' x 9''. Light toning and folds, else near fine.
