Sweet lot of 17 autograph letters signed by Fred Rogers of ''Mister Rogers' Neighborhood''. Rogers writes the Parent family of Minnesota, whose son David began watching the show in the early 1980s, when the correspondence started. The letters progress through David's childhood, culminating in a letter congratulating him on making Eagle Scout, and for his high school graduation, where David was giving a graduation speech to his class. Most of the letters are on ''Mister Rogers' Neighborhood'' stationery, with two on ''Neighborhood Trolley'' holiday cards, all signed either ''Fred'' or ''Fred Rogers''. In the letters, Rogers talks about his son Jim's wedding, and the birth of his grandson Alexander, as well as commenting on the milestones in David's life. He writes in one, ''...You have always been such a special family to me; and, hearing David's Eagle Scout Court of Honor gave me added joy in knowing you all. Congratulations!...'' Upon David's graduation in 1996, Rogers writes that he's including a pin given to him by PBS that he hopes he'll wear during his graduation speech, ''...I'd like you to have it as a reminder of your 'neighbor' who has cared about you from the time you were a young boy...You can be sure that you'll be in my prayers as you graduate and speak...'' Most letters run two pages on stationery and cards of various sizes. Two of the earliest letters are laminated, and two have a bit of haloing from moisture exposure. Overall collection is in near fine condition. Accompanied by four of the mailing envelopes.
