United States flag and mission insignia patch flown in space aboard Apollo 9, with a certificate signed by all three crew members: ''James A. McDivitt'', ''Dave Scott'' and ''Rusty Schweickart''. Certificate to which the flag and patch are affixed bears the caption: ''CARRIED INTO SPACE DURING THE FLIGHT OF APOLLO IX / 3-13 MARCH 1969''. An inscription likely by Dave Scott reads, ''To John King with best personal regards and many thanks for your continued interest and support. The Crew of Apollo [IX]''. Flag measures 6'' x 4'' and patch measures 3.25'' in diameter. Framed certificate measures 11.75'' x 14.75''. There are three places where certificate has torn: over the inscription, to the left of the flag and at bottom. Scott's signature is also smudged from moisture. Overall in good condition, with flag and patch being near fine.
