Princess Diana autograph letter signed, sent to the Royal Chef Darren McGrady, who Diana was quite close to, even working for her directly after her divorce. Dated 24 September 1988 upon Charles and Diana's Royal Highgrove stationery, personal letter reads in full, ''Dear Darren, Thank you so much for sending me the lovely invitation to your wedding on October 15. It was a very kind thought & I was thrilled to bits to be included! Sadly, I cannot be with you both on your 'big day' as I am supposed to be in another part of the country on that weekend...to think that I am going to miss the best man's speech!! However, I will be thinking of you & Julie & wishing you every possible happiness for the future. Once again, many thanx for your letter & invitation. Yours sincerely, Diana.''
Letter is accompanied by a congratulatory telegram sent to the couple shortly thereafter, dated 14 October 1988 from Buckingham Palace. Amusing telegram reads in full, ''Congratulations on getting married.....Pity about the cake.....Lyons will give a refund! Hard core urgently required at Kensington Palace! / Diana.'' Letter and telegram are beautifully presented with a photo of Diana, matted in sparkly gold and royal blue, and framed in gold to a size of 23.75'' x 20''. Two page letter (framed with an opening on the back for viewing) measures approximately 5'' x 8'' and telegram measures approximately 8.5'' x 5.25''. Near fine condition. With PSA/DNA COA.
