Handwritten notes by President Richard Nixon, given by Nixon to his biographer, ''New York Herald Tribune'' political journalist Earl Mazo, who wrote, ''Richard Nixon: A Political and Personal Portrait''. Published in 1959, the book's source material was written near or before 1958 when Nixon was Vice President. Sheet is headlined ''Science - Space'', underneath which he writes, ''Politics - not a bad word.'' He continues, ''Criticism of Humphrey[?] / Benson - } ?'' and then, ''What is the chief Problem - military - [illegible] / Set our rights - quest for knowledge. / A 21 year old / Columbus - The unknown must not be / Lesson of History / Half cocked - / Keep heads - ''. Single page on a ruled legal sheet measures 8'' x 12.5''. In very good condition with some creasing and a closed tear at bottom.
