Prisoner letter from the Dachau concentration camp during WWII, dated 8 November 1942. Two page letter is from a Thaddaus Lalewski, born on 27 September 1912 with prisoner number 25499, ''Block 12''. Lalewski writes very clearly in German on official Dachau stationery in part, ''My dear parents and brother!...I have received the last money transfer (30 rm) and thank you heartily, but...I beg you very much to send me only 10 rm, because until now I have enough money...I am healthy and feel very good. I am very glad that we are allowed to get the package with food and toiletries. On the last page of the letter are the official regulations...'' These camp regulations that he refers to read in part, ''Petition for release to the guards is useless'' and ''Visitation and telephone rights are not allowed.'' Three page letter on card-style stationery bears the official stamped Dachau postmark. Letter measures 6'' x 8.75'' closed. Overall in very good condition with separation stating along folds and small bit of paper loss. Very legible handwriting.
