Davis writes in full, ''If you can do so permit me to assure you of the gratification it would give your very respectful friend - Jeffn. Davis''. Slip, likely cut from a letter, measures 4.25'' x 1'', affixed on left edge to slightly larger slip. Accompanied with engraving of Davis mounted to board measuring 7'' x 10.75''. Slip is bold and legible, in near fine condition.
