Stan Laurel, physical comedy legend and one half of beloved duo ''Laurel and Hardy,'' typed letter signed, shedding light on the duo's first feature film. Dated 22 August 1956, Laurel corrects a Baltimore Sun article, ''...the team was formed 1927, not '29. Our first feature was a background parody on an M.G.M. picture 'The Big House' & was originally made by us as a two short reel...it turned out such a success in that length that Mr. Roach decided not to cut it down, but to add more footage and release it as a feature length. The 2 reel title was 'The Rap' then was changed to 'Pardon Us'. However, I always felt that the added footage was a mistake & should never have been done...[signed] Stan Laurel.'' Letter on Laurel's personal stationery measures 6'' x 7''. Lightly toned, else near fine condition.
