Dwight Eisenhower signs ''Ike'' to a letter typed on his personal gilt-monogrammed stationery, datelined Walter Reed Hospital, 20 October 1967. Written to his brother Edgar, letter reads, ''...Your birthday card was about the first indication I have seen of your 'tender heartedness'!...thanks for remembering my anniversary...'' Why the President wrote this letter from a hospital is unknown, but by 1967 he'd suffered from several health issues, including a stroke, heart attacks, Crohn's disease, and a gallbladder issue. Measures 7'' x 10.5''. Punch holes and folds, else near fine.
