Jazz bandleader and composer Count Basie signs this contract, dated 12 December 1969, on behalf of his band to perform at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. Basie's phenomenal career, lasting nearly fifty years, began in the 1920's in Harlem. The bandleader signs the one page 8.5" x 11" Willard Alexander, Inc. Artists Management contract in blue ink: "Count Basie". Moderate chipping and staple attached to top edge, else very good condition.
