Beautiful Olympic torch from the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay. The Torch Relay tradition was begun in 1928, where a spark from the parent flame in Olympia, Greece ignites the torch that begins the Relay, ending in the host city in time for the opening ceremonies, in this case Atlanta on 19 July 1996. Silver torch with wooden handle and gold plated base features gold plated plaque bearing each former Summer Olympic city engraved. Gold plated ring near tip bears ''Atlanta '96'' Olympic logo and ''061'' printed in purple to bottom of base, indicating the limited number of the torch. Includes colorful vinyl banner from the relay, measuring 104'' x 28''. Torch measures 31.5'' long and 2'' across the base. Near fine condition.
