A Nobel Peace Prize winner and the first democratically-elected President of South Africa, Mandela began work on the autobiography during his 27 year stint in prison in South Africa. Photo-illustrated with plenty of black and white photographs chronicling Mandela's life. Runs 558pp. Beautifully bound in hunter green leather boards with 22kt gold design, peach silk-moire endpapers and all edges gilt. Interior printed on acid-neutral paper. With sewn-in silk book marker. Measures 6.25'' x 9.5''. Light scratch to tail edge, otherwise an extremely handsome edition in near fine condition. Includes the COA from publisher Easton Press.
