Gold Tooting Bec Cup medal bestowed upon Eric G. Lester by the PGA at the 1953 British Open held in Carnoustie, Scotland. Lester's scoring lowest in a single round in the Open Championship that year with a score of 70, together with his requisite UK heritage, earned him the Tooting Bec Cup, which he shared with Dai Rees. Lot includes a 7'' x 5'' black and white photograph of Lester. Made from 9K. gold, medal measures nearly 1'' in diameter. Weighs 8.9 grams, or 0.21 ounces. Hallmarked Birmingham 1953, with the maker's mark of Alexander Clark & Co Ltd. Near fine.
