General of the Armies John J. Pershing autograph quote signed. The WWI hero writes, ''A nation that does not protect its citizens at home and abroad cannot long endure. / John J. Pershing / Brig. Gen. US Army / Fort Bliss / Jan 23 1916''. Signed slip measures at least 4'' x 3''. Matted and framed beside a photo of Pershing to an overall size of 17.5'' x 13.5''. Chipping to frame. Slip has not been removed from the frame for precise measurement and condition evaluation but appears near fine save for a few fingerprint marks.
