Brilliant Emmy Award, presented at the 1982 Sports Emmy Awards to Jack Savoy as Electronic Cameraperson for ABC's coverage of the 65th Indianapolis 500. This particular year's auto race is one of the most memorable in history for its flip-flopping on naming a winner; Bobby Unser was declared to have won first place at the conclusion of the race, but his win was contested, stripped and reassigned to Mario Andretti, only to be revoked again and ultimately assigned to Unser. The very first Sports Emmy Award was issued in 1950 as part of a regular Emmy ceremony, though the field of sports coverage earned an Emmy ceremony all its own in 1979. Emmy Award features The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' iconic statue of a winged woman on tiptoe holding an atom, a symbol of television's convergence of science and art. The base's flat perimeter reads ''The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences''. Front section is engraved with 5 lines naming the award, its category and recipient. Emmy copyright sticker is affixed to black felt-lined underside. Measures 15'' in total height with a 7.5'' diameter base. Weighs 8 pounds, 10 ounces. Miniscule scratching to end of figure's dress in the back and possible refinishing to metal, else near fine.
