Two 17th century maps dated 1690, one each of North America and South America. Map of North America is titled "L'Amerique Septentrionale" and depicts present-day Mexico, United States and Canada. Map is surprisingly accurate for predating Lewis and Clarke by 100 years, but glaring errors show an attenuated Northwest, Greenland connected to Canada and California interpreted as an island. Map of South America is titled, "L'Amerique Meridionale". The continent is drawn disproportionately wide, and the Andes mountain range is conspicuously absent. Both maps are engraved by "M. Ogier" and measure approximately 8" x 6". Near fine given age.
