Helen Keller typed letter signed on her personal Forest Hills, New York stationery, dated 24 November 1936. Letter is addressed to a Mr. Harry Cooke and discusses the grief in losing her lifelong teacher, companion and friend, Anne Sullivan. Reads in part, ''...Even so it is winter in my life since the guardian angel of fifty years no longer walks by my side on earth. Out of the darkness in which she died and I still am living I thank you, O friend, for the joy of lending a helping hand to those whose eyes seek light in vain...May God's blessing rest upon you for your generosity to the American Foundation for the Blind, whose activities comfort the sightless with the rod of counsel and the staff of self-help...'' Signed ''Helen Keller'' in pencil. One page letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Minor toning throughout, else near fine.
