Datelined Boston, 28 September 1861, Everett writes, ''For a family of kindred States, there can be neither peace nor prosperity at home, nor consideration nor influence abroad, but in a harmonious Union under one Government. / Edward Everett''. The quotation is from an address Everett delivered at a dinner for Prince Napoleon on 25 September 1861. Leaf measures 7.5'' x 5.75'', in near fine condition.
