Abraham Lincoln signature, ''A. Lincoln''. Signed clipped signature is mounted to the upper right corner of an envelope, handwritten by Lincoln to an attorney in Springfield, Illinois. Postmark is faded, but Lincoln has written the date as 4 February 1862. Signature very well may have been the original free frank, as it appears clipped and then remounted to original envelope. Signed portion measures 1.75'' x 0.5'' upon a 5'' x 2.75'' envelope. Mounted and framed beside a portrait of Lincoln in a carved wooden frame.
