Texas legal document regarding the sale of a slave. Dated February 1863 from Cherokee County, Texas, the attorney for the Petitioner argues that, apart from livestock, ''...Petitioner shows that there is no property belonging to said estate the sale of which will realize said amount, except a slave, a boy named Dick, aged about seventeen years, of black complexion, and she prays for an order to sell said negro to the highest bidder for cash...'' Extraordinary document is neatly penned and measures 7.75'' x 12.5''. Folds, else near fine.
