Notorious mafioso Joe Bonanno's personally owned plastic-rimmed glasses with an ''AO American optical 5 3/4'' imprint on temple. As the real-life ''Godfather,'' Bonanno was one of the original members and eventual Chairman of the ''Commission,'' a collection of mob bosses formed to resolve internal disputes among 20+ American mafia families. In his 30 years of being boss of the Bonanno family, he was never indicted for a crime, though in 1975 at the age of 75, was finally imprisoned for obstruction of justice and contempt of court. With a notarized COA from Bonanno's daughter-in-law, Rosalie Profaci Bonanno, niece of Mafia head Joseph Profaci, dated 23 February 2005. Lot also includes a twice-signed check by ''Joseph Bonanno'', dated 25 May 1973. Measures 6'' x 2.75'', check is filled out in Bonanno's hand in blue ink. With cancellation holes and official bank stamps. Near fine condition overall.
