He is a lifelong friend whom I hold in highest esteem. Please give him my affectionate greetings and the hope he will soon be fully recovered from his illness. With best wishes, Most sincerely, [signed] Douglas MacArthur''. 1pp. letter measures 8'' x 10.5''; near fine. Lot includes a 4.25'' x 3.5'' holiday greeting card that reads in print: ''Major General Douglas MacArthur / Commanding General Third Corps Area / wishes you a Merry Christmas / and a Happy New Year''.
