Napoleonic Admiral Joseph Antoine Ganteaume autograph letter signed as France's Maritime Prefect. Written in French, the letter is datelined Paris, 30th June, 13th year [of the French Republic]. Ganteaume addresses the correspondence to an admiral in the 6th Maritime division, bemoaning the loss of ''...considerable fortunes...'' in the war. Signed, ''A. Ganteaume'', he continues, ''...it is all lost and has been inevitably taken by the misfortune of it all...'' 3pp. letter on card-style stationery measures 7'' x 9''. Near fine.
