Colton/Thayer publication of the Declaration of Independence. This 1860 print was rendered from the original 1818 copperplate of the Declaration engraved by Peter Maverick and published by Benjamin Owen Tyler. A pictorial engraving by famous New York wood engraver Lossing & Barritt appears on this version. Declaration features a green color border, linen backing and black painted wood hanging rods. Measures 29'' x 42.75''. Toning, creasing and scattered minor tears and stains to fragile document, with a larger tear to the upper right. Separation of document from bottom rod and to green cloth piping along the sides. Lower right is affected by chipping. Very good. A highly uncommon print of the Declaration.
