Charles Darwin CDV circa 1862, shortly after his explosive ''Origin of the Species'' was published. The 2.25'' x 3.5'' albumen print of the renowned English naturalist is mounted to a 2.5'' x 4'' card. Below his image, the initials indicate his election as a Fellow in the Royal Society, the U.K.'s national academy of sciences. Minor soiling to photo, with a London Stereoscopic and Photographic Company backstamp, else very good.
