Civil War Captain Joseph Prime of the 13th New Hampshire Infantry autograph letter signed, dated 3 December 1862. Prime writes home while on the march, ''Dear wife...We are some 25 miles from the city of Washington marching down by the side of the Potomac river as near as I can judge about ten miles from Port Tobacco (perhaps you think that I should like that part)...marching toward it at a rate of about 20 miles per day...J.H. Prime''. Prime was wounded at Petersburg. 5'' x 8'' page on eye catching Thirteenth New Hampshire red print letterhead is in fine condition.
