Napoleon's General Edme Aime Lucotte autograph letter signed. Datelined Paris, 9 November 1819, French letter discusses the enigmatic disappearance of some correspondence. In part, ''...I was...surprised that I didn't receive a response to the letter that I sent you...on the 3rd of this month...as it is customary in France to be polite by responding...to a commanding General...The riddle is solved...I did not stamp the letter...It is a riddle that I cannot explain...'' Lucotte's name appears on the Arc De Triomphe in Paris. 1pp. on card-style stationery measures 8'' x 10''. Mild foxing to the left edge at fold, else near fine condition. Accompanied by full translation.
