Last photo of literary giant Truman Capote, taken 23 August 1984, two days before his death. At the time, Capote was living with his friend Joanne Carson in Los Angeles, whose friendship is well documented. Handwritten note dated 11 August 2014 by Carson on verso reads in full, "Taken August 23, 1984 this is the last picture of Truman Capote as he arrived at my house on Thursday. This was taken by me with Truman's polaroid. / This is a treasure of mine that I have given to Steve Soboroff, my friend, because Steve reminds me so much of Truman. - affectionately - Joanne Carson". Polaroid photo measures 5.125" square. Some wear and creasing, overall very good condition with still bright color. With an LOA from Los Angeles Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff.
