King William IV signed document. In giant script, he signs ''William R'' across the upper left. The partially-printed document is datelined St. James, 27 January 1833, appointing Frederick George Ainslie to First Lieutenant in the 21st Regiment of Foot or Royal North British Fusiliers. Ainslie was involved in the Crimean War and died commanding his regiment in 1854. An assortment of stamping and seals are present on the left. Countersigned by Lord Melbourne. Single page measures 13.5'' x 9.25''. Toning, creasing and foxing. Very good.
