King Kalakaua autograph letter signed as the last King of the Hawaiian Islands, datelined 7 May 1875 from Hilo, Hawaii. On his official stationery, Kalakaua writes to a Daniel Parker, thanking him for the gift of a horse. Letter reads in part, ''It gives me great please to have this opportunity of thanking you for the kind present you gave me...of a horse. A free gift of so valuable a present I appreciate most highly, more especially coming from you with the sincerity of a good heart and friendly feeling. / Please; again receive the assurance of the high consideration of good will and esteem I have towards yourself and yours / Kalakaua''. Two page letter on bifolium stationery measures 8'' x 10''. Light foxing, a few small holes and separation starting at folds. Overall in good plus condition.
