King George V signs a distinguished service order, dated 3 June 1915, for Major Richard George Hely-Hutchinson of the Royal Fusiliers, City of London Regiment. The document reads in part, ''...We have thought fit to Nominate and Appoint you to be a Member of Our Distinguished Service Order...'' The King signs at the top, ''George R. I. [Rex Imperator]''. An intact blindstamped paper royal seal is affixed to the left side of the document. Minor foxing and soiling to single page card style 8.25'' x 13'' document, very good. Lot also includes booklet entitled, ''The Statutes of the Distinguished Service Order'', giving information about the award. Also very good.
