King George IV signs the upper portion of a 9 November 1811 document as Prince Regent for his mentally ill father, King George III. The patent application protects an invention by architect John Raffield of Middlesex. It states: ''...he hath invented an apparatus to be attached to Fire Stoves of all Descriptions for Rooms for the removal of Cinders & ashes and the better prevention of Dust arising therefrom...'' An embossed seal on the left margin reads: ''One Pound / Ten Shillings''. Document runs three pages on card-style stationery and measures 7.75'' x 12.5''. Toning and creasing; in very good condition.
