King George IV signed document as Prince Regent. He signs the top in very large script during his third year ruling England on his ill father's behalf. Dated 31 May 1813, the handwritten patent document protects an improvement that Edward Thomason of Birmingham, innovated in the manufacture of whips. A seal on the left side reads: ''One Pound Ten Shillings''. Countersigned by Sidmouth, document runs 3pp. on card-style stationery. Measures 7.75'' x 12.25''. Bears docketing notations to verso. Toning, creasing, and some wear to left edge at fold lines, else near fine.
