George III royal document signed, dated 12 January 1797. Signed ''George R.'' at top, and with original wax-based seal on front, export document reads, ''Whereas William Nottidge of Bermondsey in Our County of Surrey, Humbly prays Our Royal Licence, authorising Mr. Manuel De la Torre to pay a Bill of Exchange for one hundred pounds, drawn at Madrid 22nd Augt. last, but indorsed at Ypres and remitted to this Country, for payment of Goods of British Manufacture, exported to Flanders. We do therefore, by these presents, and by the powers vested in us, by the Act passed in the thirty fourth year of Our Reign, intituled 'An Act for preventing money or effects in the hands of his Majesty's Subjects, belonging to, or disposeable by, persons resident in France, being applied to the use of the persons exercising the powers of Government in France; and for preserving the Property thereof for the benefit of the individual owners thereof.' authorise the said Manuel De la Torre to pay the said Bill accordingly. Given at our Court at Saint James's the twelfth day of January 1797, in the thirty seventh year of Our Reign. / By His Majesty's command''. Two-page document on single sheet measures 7.75'' x 12.25''. Folds, light toning and some discoloration. Mounting remnants along edges. Very good condition, with a large, prominent signature by George III.
