Brown velvet custom-made tuxedo personally owned and worn by John Steinbeck, Nobel prize-winning author of "The Grapes of Wrath". The history behind this suit is that John Steinbeck lent it to his in-law, the father of his son Thomas' first wife, Adra. After Thomas' father-in-law wore the suit, it was mistakenly never returned. Many decades later, a small house fire occurred at Adra's daughter's house, causing her to remove boxes from the attic. Within one of the boxes was this brown tuxedo, which was then returned to Thomas. Jacket has 1 button, 3 exterior pockets and 2 interior pockets. Measures 20" from underarm to underarm with 20" sleeves and 33" in length. Matching pants have 4 front waist buttons and 2 back waist buttons for suspenders, metal waist fastener, button fly and 0.75" black leg stripe. Interior tag reads: "TAUTZ & CO. / 12 GRAFTON ST. / NEW BOND ST. / LONDON, W.I. / i65 / John Steinbeck Esq". Measures 38" around the waist with 31" inseam. Both pieces show little to no damage, in near fine condition. With an LOA from Thomas Steinbeck.
