James Hancock document signed as Governor of Massachusetts, appointing James Endicot Justice of the Peace. Dated 2 July 1793, three months before Hancock died, still using the distinctive paraph underneath his signature. Countersigned by John Avery, Secretary of the Massachusetts Commonwealth. Document measures 10'' x 15.5'', housed in a double-sided frame measuring 13'' x 18.5''. Spot at lower left and tape reinforcement on verso to middle fold. Overall very good condition with a bold signature by Hancock.
