Photographer Joe Rosenthal signed photo of the famous flag raising on Iwo Jima, when U.S. Marines took control of the crucial island during World War II. Rosenthal signs the 8.5'' x 11'' photo on the lower photographic border, ''Joe Rosenthal / Mt. Suribachi / Iwo Jima / Feb. 23, 1945'' in blue ballpoint. Photo is also signed in black felt-tip by 23 Medal of Honor recipients, including Robert E. O'Malley, the first MOH recipient in Vietnam. With two first day of issue cancellations and three stamps, including the 3 cent Iwo Jima flag raising stamp issued in 1945. Minor dings at corners, overall near fine condition.
