Retained copy of the letter to James Dean from his agent Jane Deacy, dated 12 October 1954 shortly after ''East of Eden'' wrapped. Addressed to Dean at ''Dressing Room Q'' on the Warner Brothers lot, Deacy encourages Dean to consider a role in the play ''The Desperate Hours'' and is ''very happy that Warners took up your option''. She also consoles Dean on the recent marriage of Pier Angeli to Vic Damone, writing, ''Needless to say I was shocked about Pier Angeli and Vic Damone. I sincerely hope that you are not too badly hurt and upset about this...Love, / Jane Deacy''. Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''. Light wear, else near fine.
