Retained copy of the letter to James Dean from his agent Jane Deacy, dated 30 June 1954 while Dean was filming ''East of Eden''. Deacy writes to Dean at his Burbank apartment, in part, ''Dearest Youngest: I see by the columns that you have been 'discovered' by one of Filmland's loveliest. My, my, it doesn't take you long. Just don't get married, at least not from this picture. / I wonder if it would be possible for you to tell me approximately how long you think the shooting of this picture is going to take. Do you think you could ask Kazan, in an offhand manner, of course...There's a wonderful part for you in the play, 'The Desperate Hours'...Love and Kisses, / MAW''. Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''.
