4pp. civilian letter from Emily Barrows to her husband Reverend Simon Barrows. Datelined Tremont House, Quincy, IL, 24 August 1862, letter reads in part: ''...We arrived at K. a little before dark...The sail down the river was delightful...I felt a little bit homesick...and looked forward to a long day. I could think of no pleasanter manner of spending part of it than in writing to my dear absent one...All of course enquire very kindly about you...'' Ink letter measures 6.5'' x 8.25''. Toning and soiling, otherwise excellent condition.
