Iwo Jima hero, Ira Hayes signed envelope from 1944 during his service in WWII. Hayes signs the return portion of the envelope, ''Pfc. I H Hayes USMC / CO 'E' 2nd Bat. 28th Mar. / F.M.F. 5th Div. / Camp Pendleton / Oceanside, California''. Hayes addresses the envelope to his parents, ''Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Hayes / Bapchule, Ariz. / Box 906'', which is postmarked 4 July 1944, U.S. Navy on the front, and 16 July 1944 from Bapchule on the verso. Some wear, moisture spots, and torn along right edge from opening. Overall in very good condition. Ideal for framing.
