Unused invitation to the dedication of the Washington Monument at the National Mall in Washington, DC on 21 February 1885. A line for the invited's name is left blank above a list of officials expected to be in attendance. These include 13 Congressmen and Thomas Lincoln Casey, the engineer of the monument. Type-signed by John Sherman as Chairman of the Commission. An illustration of the record-breaking stone obelisk is positioned behind a bust of Washington. Measures 6.75'' x 10.25''. Toning and mounted to a paper backing. Very good.
