Howard Hughes signed first day cover, for the ''inaugural flight'' of TWA's airplane Constellation. Cover is postmarked 17 April 1944, when Hughes, along with his girlfriend Ava Gardner, and TWA President Jack Frye flew the aircraft from Los Angeles to Washington, DC in a fantastic PR event to promote its transcontinental flights. Frye also signs the cover as Hughes' co-pilot on the flight. Cover measures 6.5'' x 3.625''. Near fine condition, boldly signed by Hughes. With University Archives COA.
